Just a few more weeks until my novel “The Name of the Game” is released! Here’s an excerpt to give you a taste of what it’s all about:
“We say we’re just friends, yet every time we’re together, we end making out like we’re on a plane that’s going down,” Kyle said. “We both know what a terrible couple we’d make. But by some cruel joke of science, the molecules in our bodies seem to be attracted to each another.”
“Cells,” Mac corrected. “The human body is made of cells, not molecules.”
“See!?” Kyle roared. “The right woman for you wouldn’t make that mistake. And my kind of guy wouldn’t correct it. Annoyingly.”
“Fair enough,” Mac said. “So now what? ‘Just friends’ seems to be failing miserably.”
“We make a no hanky-panky pact,” Kyle said authoritatively.
“A what?” Mac said.
“An agreement to have no physical contact with each other,” Kyle said. “We can be friends, but no darts, no kisses in the elevator, no making out on Mrs. G’s counter.”
“Well, that’s one idea,” Mac said, mulling it over.
A terrible one, Kyle thought. But a necessary one.
“It’s the only way we can stay friends,” she said.
“Okay,” Mac said after a long while. “It’s a deal.”
“Deal,” Kyle said, reaching her hand out to shake on it. He raised an eyebrow, and she pulled her hand back, remembering the no-touching pact. This was going to be harder than she thought.
“The Name of the Game” will be available July 23 on Amazon.com, iTunes, BN.com and other e-book retailers.
